InspirationBlessingwayLast night I had the great honour of attending a dear friends Blessingway. I met so many inspirational
women and it was amazing to spend time with other women recognising the importance of motherhood.
I have always been aware particularly through my work with women experiencing postnatal depression
or the challenges of a new baby, that in Western society the new mum often lacks the community of women
around her to offer the special support that women can offer to other women. A "Blessingway" is one way of starting to
regain that community.
"Blessingway" is a Navajo term for their traditional birth rites. The Blessingway gives us the opportunity to focus our attention,
within a loving circle of support, on the incredibly joyful, challenging and transformational process of pregnancy,
birth and motherhood.
Be ExtraordinaryThis was the closing statement on an email I received recently I thank the person who sent it
it gave me encouragement and energy. I urge those reading this to do just that - live your dreams,
see them in full colour and nurture them and aim to be completely extraordinary!!
