‘The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.’ ~Rajneesh

It sounds so simple “a happy mum equals a happy baby”. But becoming a mum is a big change and my experience of working closely with new mums suggests it often doesn’t go the way we expect.

It’s a challenge, late pregnancy prevents good sleep, preparing for birth can be exhausting and then you need to be rested before the real learning/work starts and all the time our culture expects you to continue juggling all your other life roles.

I am passionate about the need for realistic expectations of mums who should have space to enjoy the joy of
babies and be supported with the changing life patterns and through the times that could be better.

I offer individualised practical and emotional support packages to help you as and when you need. These are offered with a down to earth, non judgemental and common sense approach.

For example these can be based around providing time to talk through what is important to you, dealing with worries, concerns or practical issues, looking at ways to protect/build your self esteem & confidence and preventing post natal depression.

These sessions can be one off or there as often as you need, they can be held somewhere that suits you - including the local coffee shop or your home.

There are lots of services I would love to offer to support mums and dads to be, however at the moment
small beginnings group needs to grow a bit first so in the mean time here’s a list of a few things I think would
make fantastic, alternative gifts for the baby shower

• Make a token for meals after the birth, then when the baby is born cook dinner and drop it round without staying
• Pay for a cleaner or do the cleaning, before or after the birth - we could all do with a break from housework
• Give homemade tokens for babysitting - put different time limits on them or conditions like only valid if you
go on a date night
• Visit and do the washing up or once the baby is born take the baby's laundry home and return clean and ironned
• Give vouchers for small beginnings group (we kind of had to say that!)
• If you have any suggestions to add please email me
